Board Member

 

John Gurney is a Senior Vice President in the International Department at First Horizon Bank.  In this capacity, he manages the sales and credit functions of the team and advises companies on best practices to mitigate international payment risks.   He has worked in this area for 29 of his 31 years with First Horizon. 

 

John currently serves on the Tennessee District Export Council and is a past president of the Memphis World Trade Club.

 

In 2017, John retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve and has previously deployed to Iraq and Kuwait in support of the Global War on Terrorism. 

 

He is a graduate of The University of Memphis, having majored in International Business. 

 

John has two (adult) children and lives in a suburb of Memphis with his wife of 27 years.
